During the milcomp in Bulgaria the competition format was changed drastically due to unforeseen challenges that were placed on the organising country at short notice. These sudden changes and unexpected competition format required all competitors to adapt to new techniques rapidly and change their mental approach to the individual events. Nevertheless was the competition fierce among the teams and did the organising committee succeed in presenting a competition of high and competitive standard that was fair to all. During the preparation phase the South African team saw many candidates unavail themselves due to courses, deployment and injury, and this presented the management with the unique opportunity of including a novice team for the first time in many years.
2015 was n year full of ups and downs. Setting the bar the previous year in Germany we had a lot to hold on to. As the year went by we had exceptional competitors who could no longer participate. Only a few remained even before the cutting of the training squad began. The team was only announced 1 month before the CIOR/Milcomp competition.
