Defence and Military Veterans Minister, Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula, will on Wednesday resume her career promotion activities for her department and the SA National Defence Force (SANDF).
She has, over the past 18 months or so, made at least four defence career promotion stops at Mafikeng, Louis Trichardt/Makhado, Port Elizabeth and Centurion.
The Minister will tomorrow be “selling” defence careers at the Potsdam learning site on the Buffalo City campus of the Walter Sisulu University.
She will also present a lecture on the former president of the ANC to students.
Mapisa-Nqakula will lead a scarce skills sector careers exhibition presented by the SANDF. A statement issued by Defence Corporate Communications indicates the exhibition is in line with Milestone One of the Defence Review to ensure a sustained skills base for both the operational and capability efficiency of the SANDF as well as to arrest its decline.
The exhibition hopes to encourage students at the Eastern Cape tertiary institution to take up military careers by providing them with first-hand information and insights from serving members of the force. All four arms of service – the SA Air Force, SA Army, SA Military Health Service and SA Navy – will be represented at the exhibition.
