Head of SANDF joint operations, Duma Mdutyana dies

JOHANNESBURG – The Ministry of Defence and Military Veterans is mourning the death of a senior SANDF member.

Chief of Joint Operations Lieutenant General Duma Dumisani Mdutyana died on Wednesday morning after a short illness.

Mdutyana fell ill while on duty abroad and was hospitalised upon his return to South Africa, the Ministry of Defence and Military Veterans said in a statement.

Defence Minister Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula and SANDF Chief General Solly Shoke conveyed their condolences to Mdutyana's family and friends.
