JOA KZN Participates in Maritzburg College Remembrance Day Memorial Service

Reserve Force Council Junior Officers' Association (RFCJOA) KwaZulu-Natal region's Communications Officer Second Lieutenant Mdumiseni Madlala attended the annual Remembrance Day Ceremony held at Maritzburg College's war memorial on Friday 10 November 2017.
The school's Mr Marwick acted as master of ceremonies, leading the service in front of the College's Clark House. The service commemorates Maritzburg College's fallen Old Collegians (OCs).
Mr Sanele Ngema (Maritzburg OC 2008 and current staff member) provided guests with an overview of the Battle of Isandlwana while Mr Craig MacKenzie (Maritzburg OC 1985 and Chairman of the School Governing Board) highlighted the fate of seven Maritzburg OCs who fell that battle. Mr Ngcebo Thembela (Maritzburg OC 2003 and current staff member) provided context about Isandlwana and its enduring influence on Maritzburg College. Mr Geoff Shepstone - whose great-great-uncle - Captain George Shepstone perished at Isandlwana - read the Maritzburg College Roll of Honour from the battle.
